Karon is a very lovely area of Phuket island in Thailand. Many people would not know that Karon existed, as mostly people go to Thailand for a short 10 day holiday, stay in there resort, do a few day tours, and not venture further around the Island from their accommodation resort. Unfortunately for those, they are missing out on seeing beautiful Karon, and experiencing the slower and more relaxed paced environment that is Karon, Phuket, Thailand.

It is one of the most highly regarded beaches that is in Thailand, a place that tourists often go because of how long and beautiful this beach actually is. It is almost 3 miles long, the perfect spot for people that would like to enjoy the view of the crystal clear waters, and the surrounding countryside, all from this one location. Why Visit Karon Beach?

This is actually the third longest of all of the beaches that you will encounter during your trip to Phuket island. It is on the West Coast, like most of the beaches are, located between Kata and Patong. It is also the second favorite for tourism, and probably of all of the destinations that you will experience while you are in Phuket. Part of the reason for the popularity has to do with the crystal clear waters, and the excellent diving and snorkeling that you can experience, specifically at the south end of the beach. It is also a fairly wide beach, one that will enable you to feel less crowded than you will on other beaches in Thailand. Let’s discuss the three main areas so that once you arrive, you will know where to go.

Three Main Areas Of Karon Beach

Karon Centre is the first place that you will want to check out, a small city that will provide you with many different amenities. There is a substantial amount of shopping centers, places to eat, and it is known for the entertainment and nightlife that you can experience during the evening hours. There is also a very popular Buddhist temple, a place where you can also see the weekly market where natural food that is grown and caught is sold for reasonable prices. The second place is Karon Beach road, a destination for people that are ready to have a fun evening out on the town, but would like to take a romantic walk. It is in the same area that you can check out the Karon Bazaar, a place where you can purchase many items that are unique to the island. Finally, Luang Poh Chuan Road circles around Karon, allowing you to get excellent views of the mountains, beaches, and the beautiful waters at the south end of the beach which also have some of the best nightclubs within this area.

Many Attractions To Consider

Aside from the many different places that you can eat out at, go dancing, and also purchase different items, Wat Karon is a temple that you can visit, with beautiful serpents out front, representative of the religion of Buddhism. These serpents are called Naga serpents, and mythological snake that is directly tied to the religion in terms of eternity. Many of the villages gather at this location to practice their religion, and after which they can head down to the markets to get their food for the week. This occurs at Karon Market which was mentioned above, and it is directly attached to this temple. Due to the size of the temple, many of the outdoor markets will set up as people are inside, waiting for them to come out to purchase their products. Other things that you can do include learning how to cook Thai food, and you can also get a massage at a resort and spa that is nearby. Everything that you could possibly want on a vacation to help you relax is provided in this very low-key atmosphere.

There are so many things to do when you get to Phuket, this is just one location. Karon tends to draw a large number of tourists because of the market, and the temple, motivating many people to come back every year. It is designed to portray the lifestyle of those that live in Thailand, and the religion that they hold most dear. At the very least, you will get to enjoy the beautiful sites that surrounds you, go snorkeling, or even take a boat ride out into the clear waters.
